Our story seems to be more the norm than not. Just ask our neighbors. Our son, is the kid next door who had been seen jumping out his window, or sneaking someone in late at night.  We are the family that seemed to have visits from the police through out our son’s teen years. So what does a drug addict look like? He is a handsome boy who is an incredible athlete. He is a scholar student who graduated cum laude. He was able to do school, do work, do sports and have friends until he couldn’t. How did this happen you ask? Most teens experiment. They are wired to push the envelope of independence. They try things that are deemed rebel like. No, not all adolescents become addicts, get pregnant, or will be a habitual bully, but most will try things that could be risky. Through my blog posts I will write about our journey and the lessons we have learned. I hope to have posts from other parents, those in recovery and experts in addiction and mental health.

Chasing Carson: A Family’s Journey through Adolescence, Addiction and Recovery has been created and is officially published! With Carson, Jackson and Sloan’s blessing, I have written our story. Our hope is that our book and this blog will give hope to so many families who are struggling to help their loved ones who are addicted.
